About me

Dr. Sarris is an Dendroecologist/Plant Ecologist having participated in over 25 International and National research projects. Publications of his research teams featured in leading scientific journals. He acts as a reviewer for more than 15 international journals and has designed and supervised over 45 Thesis. Dr. Sarris was trained in Switzerland (Inst. of Botany, Univ. Basel & Paul Scherrer Institute, ETH Domain ) and Greece (Dept of Biology, Univ. of Patras) in Biology (BSc), in Ecology and Environmental Management (MSc) and in Dendro- Ecology/Climatology and Plant Science (PhD). He works as a researcher and academic tutor at Universities in Greece and Cyprus and is currently the Director of KES Research Center and the Coordinator of the School of Environmental Studies at KES College. Dr. Sarris has served as an expert for the International Science Network MedECC, and as a Consultant for Scientific Documentaries (e.g. Άνυδρη Γη), for the University of Cyprus Black Gold Strategic Program on Sustainable Agroforestry/ Organic Carob Farming and for the Association of Organic Farmers in Cyprus in combating desertification via regenerative agriculture. His research work is devoted to investigating the adaptation potential of Mediterranean plants to climate change, exploring ways to assist forest management and organic agriculture for climate change adaptation/mitigation. He also seeks to apply the ecological traits of drought adapted plants and ecological engineering tools to combat desertification.
